Sharing Circuit Information with CPLD

- Gate Arrays and packages with power supply pin compatibility -


CPLD products have relatively small circuit size, with most of the I/O interfaces at the CMOS and TTL levels.
The circuit information can be shared easily with Gate Arrays.
Packages capable of sharing the footprint (mounting pad) with the printed circuit boards are also available.

  1. Design file
    Since HDL is the mainstream language for development, no further action is necessary in most cases.
    "RAM Wrapper" for sharing memory descriptions is also provided.
  2. Reset function
    Check for availability of reset pins and a reset circuit.
  3. Power supply voltage
    The Gate Arrays must be compatible with the power supply voltage range of the CPLD.
  4. Power supply pins
    Select a package that have the power supply pins in the same positions as the CPLD.

Refer to these lists when replacing a CPLD with a Gate Arrays prior to mass production.
Gate Arrays are custom ICs, and hence offer enhanced security. On the other hand, they do require additional cost and time for development. For details, contact our exclusive distributors.
