Home area network (HAN) connectivity

  • Power line communications (PLC) and ZigBee® solutions
  • PLC PLM-1 digital modem IC can be combined with various ZigBee solutions from NEC Electronics for hybrid network connectivity

Smart home automation and building management systems

  • Home automation touch screen control panel
    • Controls room temperature via a touch screen panel
    • Determines the total heat demand of the house based on information from each room
    • Sets the blower speed and power level
    • Acts as a coordinator in a ZigBee network
  • Thermostat climate control unit with LCD
    • Senses temperatures and the duct damper valve position in each room
    • Continuously sends information via a ZigBee network to the central control panel
    • Changes the duct valve position to control room temperature
  • HVAC/furnace motor control unit
    • Displays and controls the speed of the furnace blower according to the central control panel and total BTU level required
    • Communicates with the central panel via a ZigBee network
    • Adjusts the blower motor depending on temperature settings and position of the air damper
  • LED lighting control unit
    • Controls LED lights by turning them on or off or dimming them
    • Communicates with a central control panel over a ZigBee network, making it possible for users to control light settings remotely
